Evaluating a Module




Give the evaluation on the module according to:

a. Organization( How does the author organize the topic?)

        The module which was done by the National Open University of Nigeria for the School of Arts and Social Sciences that focuses on the Literary Stylistics has a well- organized topics. Based from this, it started from a title page, down to the introductory page, going to the table of contents and end its part until the body. References are given after a specific unit or chapter being presented in  the module, which is considered as one of the style of author. 

Introductory page started through giving descriptions to the following parts:
  •  Course Aims
  •  Course Objectives
  •  Working through this Course
  •  Course Materials
  •  Study Units
  •  Course Marking
  •  Course Overview
  •  Facilitators/ Tutors/ Tutorials
  •  Summary
        Base from the module, the chapters were named as " Module" and the sub-topics were listed as the "units". 
       In every topics being presented, it follows the same format that includes :
  1. Introduction 
  2. Objective
  3. Main Content   
  4. Conclusion  
  5. Summary  
  6. Tutor-Marked Assignment  
  7. References/Further Reading 
        To sum it up, the reader of this module can easily determine the main content and objectives of the different chapters.

b. Relevance( Who will benefit the output? What will be its significance in instruction?)
         
        Administration.This will serve to them as a tool for the teacher and students to improve the totality of the learning of their institution.

       Teachers/Instructors. This will be used as their basis in teaching Literary Stylistics to the students and for them to have inputs for the next generation.

       Students.This will be consider as their guiding light in studying Literary Stylistics and other English related topics such as the figure of speech. This will also their source in studying such subject.

c. Style( What is the author's style in presenting the module?)


            The style of the author is good since it gave detail to every topics of the modules. But then, exercises and activities were not given more where in fact modules are used to assess students learning through answering activities and seat works. Furthermore, it gave a lengthy descriptions on the specific terms and not an an examples and applications on how to do with it. Indeed, presenting a module to students will not only focus on descriptions but also on applications. 


         
d. Articulation ( Does the module present the totality of the topics for the course?)

         Yes, the module present the totality of the topics of the course only that, exercises and activities were not given more to assess the learning of every students. In addition, the author only gave some questions that doesn't involve a Higher Order Thinking Skilled Questions.


e. Citation ( What is the citation style of the author? Does it show complete reference citation of the author mentioned?)

         The citation were being presented after the specific topic is being explained, discussed, elaborated and presented to the readers. In prior to this, it is placed after the tutor-marked assignments. Compared to other modules, it has a unique style of presenting its references. Yes, it shows complete reference of the author mentioned on the module.
